Hitachi Energy has finalized the acquisition of the remaining stake in eks Energy, a Spanish company specializing in power electronics and control solutions for energy storage. The company first bought a majority stake in 2023. With energy storage becoming increasingly vital for grid stability and energy security, international agencies like the IEA have emphasized the need to rapidly scale global storage capacity.
By fully integrating eks Energy, Hitachi Energy aims to streamline solution delivery, strengthen its power conversion business and respond more quickly to market needs. The acquisition enhances the company’s technological base and operational flexibility while ensuring continuity for existing customers.
Eks Energy’s center of excellence in Seville will continue to drive research, product development and collaboration. Recent projects such as the Waratah Super Battery in Australia and the launch of a liquid-cooled converter platform highlight the growing role of advanced power conversion systems. These technologies help balance currents and voltage while leveraging digital connectivity and analytics to improve reliability.
