The defence ministry has unveiled a 15-year modernisation roadmap focusing on AI, space-based warfare, unmanned systems, and direct energy weapons.
Planned acquisitions include nuclear propulsion, next-generation tanks, UCAVs, and hypersonic missiles.
The Army seeks over 1,800 main battle tanks, 400 light tanks, 600,000 artillery rounds, and multiple unmanned aerial systems.
The Navy’s priorities include one aircraft carrier, 10 next-gen destroyers, over 10 landing platforms, and advanced helicopters.
The Air Force plans for 20 stratospheric airships, 350 multi-mission drones, stealth UCAVs, high-power laser systems and directed energy weapons.
A strong focus is placed on cyber defence, satellite-based communication, electronic denial bubbles, and anti-swarm drone systems.
The roadmap highlights India’s push to integrate cutting-edge indigenous technologies with future combat capabilities.
