LG Chem will present an integrated battery safety solution at InterBattery 2026, taking place from March 11 to 13 at COEX in Seoul.
The solution is designed to delay and prevent thermal runaway in batteries, helping manufacturers meet stricter global safety regulations. It includes engineering plastics that form a dense protective barrier when exposed to flames, slowing flame and pressure propagation between battery cells and modules. The material is lightweight and supports flexible battery pack design.
LG Chem will also showcase Nexula, an aerogel based thermal barrier that blocks heat diffusion within battery packs. When combined with the engineering plastics, the materials create a dual layer safety system designed to delay and block thermal propagation.
Additional materials on display include thermally conductive adhesives for heat dissipation, structural adhesives for bonding metals and plastics and potting resins that protect batteries from moisture, impact and ignition risks.
The exhibition will also highlight materials for emerging sectors such as humanoid robots and urban air mobility.
