ESENTIA and Siemens Energy are advancing Phase II of the 2026–2028 Expansion Plan to strengthen Mexico’s natural gas transportation infrastructure. The project is part of an exclusive collaboration agreement signed by the two companies in 2025.

As part of the expansion, Siemens Energy will install two 15 MW turbo compression units at the San Juan Compression Station in Chihuahua and the Aguascalientes Compression Station. Construction is already underway at the Aguascalientes site.

The project supports the Wahalajara System, the largest private interconnected natural gas pipeline network in Mexico. The network spans more than 2,000 kilometers from Texas to central western Mexico and currently supplies about 16% of the country’s natural gas demand.

With the addition of the new compression units, system transport capacity is expected to increase by nearly 50%, from 1.3 billion cubic feet per day to almost 2 billion cubic feet per day once all expansion phases are completed.
