LG Electronics CEO William Cho is strengthening the company’s presence in the Global South through a new partnership focused on data center cooling solutions. During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Cho met with leaders from SHAKER Group and DATAVOLT to sign a memorandum of understanding. Under the agreement, LG will provide advanced thermal management systems for hyperscale AI data centers being developed in Oxagon part of the NEOM City project.
DATAVOLT specializes in building large scale and renewable powered data centers across Saudi Arabia, Asia and Africa. Its Oxagon facility is expected to be one of the largest in the region. For LG, this collaboration positions thermal management as a new growth area within its HVAC business, alongside integrated solutions such as heat recovery and DC power systems.
The initiative also aligns with LG’s One LG Solution approach, which draws on the group’s broader capabilities in energy storage and IT services. Cho’s trip highlighted the Middle East and Africa as important growth regions due to their economic diversification and government-led infrastructure projects. LG has operated in the region for decades and continues to adapt its technologies to local climates while expanding service infrastructure.
