LG Electronics has announced that its Hai Phong manufacturing facility in Vietnam, the company’s largest vehicle component production site, has received Cyber Security Management System Level 3 certification from TÜV Rheinland. The plant is the first in the world to achieve both Level 2 and Level 3 certifications at the same time among TÜV Rheinland-certified cases.
CSMS is an international framework that ensures cybersecurity processes are applied throughout the lifecycle of vehicles and automotive components, from development to post-production. With this recognition, Hai Phong extends the CSMS Level 3 certification already held by LG’s Vehicle Solution Company confirming that the facility can apply advanced cybersecurity practices in mass production for global automakers.
The certification comes at a time when cybersecurity is increasingly important due to the industry’s shift toward Software Defined Vehicles. Regulations such as UNECE R155 require vehicles to meet CSMS standards before entering markets across Europe, Asia, and other regions.
LG has steadily advanced its cybersecurity efforts. It achieved corporate CSMS Level 2 certification in 2023, Level 3 in 2024 and also earned the Automotive SPICE for Cybersecurity certification which is now being adopted by U.S. automakers like Ford and GM for supplier evaluations.
