LG Electronics is showcasing its LG PuroTec™ antimicrobial additive solutions at K 2025 in Düsseldorf, marking its debut at one of the world’s leading plastics tradeshows. This follows LG’s participation in Chinaplas and NPE , underscoring its expanding presence in the global advanced materials market.
PuroTec, a glass matrix–based antimicrobial additive, can be applied to plastics, coatings, and textiles, offering antibacterial and antifungal protection to prevent odor and contamination. Co-developed with LG Chem, it serves industries such as healthcare, home appliances, automotive, and construction. With sales doubling annually, PuroTec has become a major B2B growth driver.
LG also highlighted new applications of its glass powder innovations, including Marine Glass for marine restoration and Mineral Wash for eco-friendly fabric cleaning. The company holds 420 patents in glass powder technology and operates a 4,500-ton-capacity plant in Changwon, South Korea.
Additionally, LG partnered with SGS Korea to establish global antimicrobial certification standards for PuroTec, ensuring transparency and reliability for international markets. According to Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Home Appliance Solution Company, PuroTec is positioned as a strategic engine for sustainable B2B growth, reinforcing LG’s leadership in the advanced materials sector.
