Nikon has released the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II, a standard zoom lens for full-frame/FX-format mirrorless cameras. It covers a focal length range of 24 mm to 70 mm with a constant aperture of f/2.8, making it useful for both wide-angle and medium-telephoto shooting.

The lens weighs about 675 g and is built with an internal zoom mechanism that helps maintain balance and improves resistance to dust and moisture. It is also the first Nikon zoom lens to use the Silky Swift VCM system for autofocus, which delivers faster and quieter performance compared to its predecessor. Autofocus tracking during zooming has also been improved, making it easier to capture moving subjects.

Optical design includes a large aspherical front element and ED glass to balance image quality with reduced weight. Features such as reduced ghosting, round bokeh from an 11-blade diaphragm and suppression of focus breathing make it suitable for both photography and video. The lens also supports close focusing, has a control ring clicking switch and a filter adjustment window for easier handling in varied shooting conditions.
