Nokia has signed an agreement with Extreme Broadband (EBB) and its subsidiary Open DC to enhance the performance and security of AI data centers in Malaysia. The initiative aims to support the country’s digital economy and align with Malaysia’s National Cloud Computing Policy. By deploying Nokia’s Data Center Gateway, Data Center Fabric, and quantum-safe network solutions, Open DC will be able to offer more reliable, secure, and high-performance services, particularly for industries like banking and finance that require stringent safeguards.

The project will connect six AI data centers across Malaysia including facilities in Cyberjaya, Johor Bahru, Penang and the upcoming Kedah site to create a resilient network infrastructure. This upgrade will improve operational efficiency while supporting diverse enterprise use cases.

In addition to the contract, Nokia and EBB have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in developing data center solutions and quantum-safe networks. The collaboration will include a joint go to market strategy focused on enterprise connectivity, multi-cloud solutions, and DDoS protection. Testing and validation of Nokia’s automation tools and security features will also be part of the partnership.
