Nokia has announced the extension of its strategic partnership with Vodafone and Vodacom to advance Radio Access Network innovation across Europe and Africa as part of Vodafone’s five-year network investment program. Building on a history of collaboration, Nokia will deploy cutting-edge equipment from its 5G AirScale portfolio, including Massive MIMO radios, baseband units, and remote radio heads powered by ReefShark System-on-Chip technology. These energy-efficient solutions will enhance network coverage, capacity, and reliability while reducing power consumption and space requirements.
The partnership will also see the first deployment of a 5G Dual-Band Massive MIMO Radio in Africa, supporting Vodafone’s goal of expanding next-generation connectivity and digital inclusion across key markets. Additionally, Nokia will implement MantaRay NM, an AI-powered network management system that enables intelligent monitoring and optimization.
Through continued collaboration with Vodacom and Safaricom in regions such as Ethiopia, Kenya, and South Africa, Nokia aims to build future-proof 5G standalone networks that are secure, resilient, and sustainable. This extended partnership reinforces Nokia’s position as a trusted global technology leader, helping Vodafone accelerate digital transformation and meet the evolving demands of the AI-driven era.
