Nokia has partnered with Vortex Group to upgrade its IP edge and transport network across Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat. The project focuses on strengthening IP aggregation and edge networks to deliver higher broadband speeds and expand services into smaller Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities.

The modernized infrastructure will support more than 150 smaller internet service providers that depend on Vortex’s backbone. With Nokia’s Broadband Network Gateway solution, Vortex will replace multiple smaller systems with a single scalable platform that can handle over 200,000 subscribers. This change is expected to simplify operations, reduce costs and improve service reliability.
Vortex will also transition its network from Layer 2 to a Layer 3 IP/MPLS-based design, which will increase efficiency and provide more capacity for future growth. Nokia will supply its 7250 IXR series routers and 7750 SR-1 BNG as part of the deployment. These upgrades will create a stronger backbone, supporting Vortex’s retail services as well as potential wholesale partnerships across the region.
