OPPO has signed a global patent license agreement with a major Chinese automaker, granting access to its cellular Standard Essential Patents (SEPs). The agreement enables the automaker to use OPPO’s patented technologies in its connected vehicles.
This marks OPPO’s second patent licensing deal with a car manufacturer, following its earlier agreement with Volkswagen Group. The partnership reflects the growing role of OPPO’s cellular innovations in the automotive sector. According to LexisNexis IPlytics, OPPO ranks eighth worldwide in 5G patent strength, with its SEPs distributed across more than 40 countries and regions.
In addition to its cellular technologies, OPPO’s VOOC flash charging system has been integrated by over 60 automakers and installed in more than 10 million vehicles, demonstrating its growing impact on smart mobility. With over 65,000 granted patents globally, OPPO continues to invest in 5G, AI, imaging, charging, and video technologies, aiming to strengthen collaboration across industries and advance connected mobility solutions.
