As part of its community engagement around its new EV battery facility in De Soto, Kansas, Panasonic partnered with Olympic champion Katie Ledecky to promote STEAM education among local students. On September 30, Ledecky visited the Cedar Trails Exploration Center’s Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) in Lenexa, Kansas, where she participated in hands-on bioscience and robotics experiments with high school students. The visit highlighted how curiosity, perseverance, and real-world learning experiences can encourage young people to explore careers in science and technology.
Ledecky, a longtime Panasonic ambassador, emphasized the importance of education and shared how her interest in math and science developed alongside her swimming career. Her message to students focused on pursuing passions with dedication whether in sports, science, or any other field.
The event reflects Panasonic’s broader commitment to STEAM initiatives and community partnerships, especially in regions tied to its long-term investments like the $4 billion De Soto EV battery plant. School officials praised the collaboration for creating meaningful engagement between students and role models. Panasonic leaders reaffirmed their goal to continue supporting education and innovation in Kansas, helping nurture the next generation of thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers.
