Panasonic Entertainment & Communication Co., Ltd. has announced the release of the AK-UBX100, a new 4K multi-purpose box-style camera, set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. It shares the same platform as the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera introduced in 2024, ensuring consistency in operation and color matching across devices. With its compact design and weight of about 1.9 kg, the UBX100 is suitable for diverse filming setups, including robotic camera use. It supports multiple IP protocols such as SMPTE ST 2110, NDI and SRT along with dual 12G-SDI ports offering flexible connectivity for modern production environments.

Panasonic will also introduce the world’s first auto-focus (AF) function for 4K studio and system cameras, beginning with a firmware update for the AK-UCX100 in December 2025 and later for the UBX100 in mid-2026. The AF system provides stable and fast focus adjustments regardless of lens type, simplifying use for both new and experienced operators. Additional updates for the UCX100 will include low skew mode, video TRUNK expansion, peripheral light correction and remote back focus adjustment. Both models will be showcased at IBC2025 in Amsterdam.
