Panasonic Entertainment & Communication Co., Ltd. announced that its IT/IP production platform KAIROS was central to the live broadcast of Beethoven’s 9th with a cast of 10,000, a landmark event marking the opening of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The large-scale production was powered by NTT’s Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN), enabling high-capacity, low-latency transmission over 40 kilometers between the Expo site and Mainichi Broadcasting System’s (MBS) control center in Osaka.
The workflow replaced traditional outside-broadcast vans with a fully remote setup, transmitting signals from 21 cameras and 64 audio channels in real time. KAIROS was selected for its flexible, software-defined architecture and ability to manage heavy video traffic, multi-screen outputs and real-time effects adjustments during the broadcast.
