Garmin has launched the Descent X30, a large-format, eco-friendly dive computer designed for recreational and advanced divers. The device features a 2.4-inch vibrant display, leakproof metal buttons, a 10 ATM dive rating, and up to 30 hours of battery life. Its housing and bezel are built entirely from recycled ocean-bound plastics, reflecting Garmin’s sustainability focus.
The X30 introduces NDL Aware metrics, which calculate in real time how depth changes affect a diver’s no-decompression limit, allowing longer and safer dives. It also supports multi-gas dive profiles, including trimix, for divers looking beyond recreational limits. Additional features include surface GPS for precise site navigation, a 3-axis digital compass, audible and vibration alerts, and a dynamic depth chart with projected ascent planning. Divers can also pair the X30 with an inReach satellite communicator to trigger an SOS message when above the surface.
Usability enhancements include flip-screen mode, customizable orientation, and easy navigation even with gloves. Integration with the Garmin Dive app allows divers to review and log their underwater experiences.
