At the Smart Production Solutions (SPS) trade show, Siemens introduced TIA Portal V21, the newest version of its Totally Integrated Automation Portal, designed to improve engineering workflows and production reliability. The update addresses the growing need for flexible, easy-to-use tools that support shorter product cycles and diverse production requirements.
TIA Portal V21 integrates all automation tasks within a single framework and includes open interfaces for IT/OT integration, as well as testing and digital twin simulation features. The version adds Git-based version control, enabling users to implement continuous-integration workflows, manage versioning more effectively, and maintain traceability across programming environments such as LAD, FBD, and SCL.
To support higher plant availability, WinCC Unified SCADA systems now offer redundant server configurations that maintain operation during disruptions. The WinCC Unified Data Hub serves as a central archive for production data, messages, and audit trails across multiple systems, creating plant-wide data visibility. According to Siemens, TIA Portal V21 contributes to the shift toward software-defined automation, allowing manufacturers to operate with greater consistency and adaptability.
