Toshiba Group’s Heavy Ion Therapy System CI-1000 received recognition at the GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2025, earning the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, the GOOD DESIGN GOLD AWARD, and selection in the GOOD DESIGN BEST 100. The system advances cancer treatment by minimizing the need for surgery or hospitalization and has been refined for compactness and efficiency, offering a comprehensive treatment experience.

In addition to the CI-1000, three other Toshiba designs were awarded the GOOD DESIGN AWARD this year. Habuki™, a sewage pretreatment system, enhances oxidation ditch processes, improving treatment capacity while reducing energy use and maintenance costs. The Delighting Everyone Project provides renewable energy-powered electric products to residents of remote South Pacific islands, supporting local infrastructure and daily productivity. The Goi Thermal Power Station rebuild in Chiba Prefecture emphasized functional design and co-creation with stakeholders to improve operational efficiency, safety, and usability.

These projects demonstrate Toshiba’s integration of technology, infrastructure, and community-focused initiatives. The award-winning designs will be displayed at the GOOD DESIGN EXHIBITION 2025 in Tokyo from November 1 to 5. The GOOD DESIGN AWARD continues to highlight designs that address societal challenges and contribute to everyday life.
