WhatsApp has introduced several updates focused on communication, calls, and AI-driven image tools ahead of the holiday period. The new Missed Call Messages feature lets users leave a voice or video note when someone doesn’t answer a call, functioning as a simple alternative to voicemail. Users can also share reactions during voice chats without interrupting the ongoing conversation, and video calls will now highlight the active speaker to make group interactions easier to follow.
The platform is expanding its AI capabilities through Meta AI, with improved image generation supported by models from Flux and Midjourney. These upgrades aim to help users create seasonal visuals and personalised content with greater flexibility. WhatsApp is also adding an option to animate photos into short videos based on prompts, extending its creative tools for casual communication and content sharing.
On desktop, a new media tab offers a more organised view of documents, links, and shared media across chats. Link previews have been updated to appear clearer and more consistent. Together, these changes are intended to streamline communication, enhance visual creation, and make it easier to access shared content across conversations.
