GE Vernova announced a $30 million investment to expand its electrification manufacturing facility in Sesto San Giovanni, Italy. The move supports rising global demand for grid infrastructure and will add about 50 manufacturing jobs in the Lombardy region.
The expansion will increase production of bushings, critical components used in power and generator transformers that enable safe electricity transmission and distribution. The site will add new production lines for advanced dry type bushings including Resin Impregnated Paper and Resin Impregnated Synthetic technologies, covering voltage levels up to 245 kV.
The Sesto San Giovanni facility serves as GE Vernova’s Bushing Center of Excellence and has operated for over a century. It supports large scale power infrastructure projects worldwide.
This project is part of GE Vernova’s planned $11 billion investment in capital expenditure and R&D from 2025 to 2028. The company currently supports around 25% of Italy’s power capacity through its technology.
