GE HealthCare Medtronic Integration Enhances Real-Time Neurosurgical Imaging

GE HealthCare and Medtronic have introduced a digital integration between the bkActiv intraoperative ultrasound system and the Stealth AXiS surgical navigation platform.

The integration enables real-time imaging during cranial procedures, allowing neurosurgeons to view live ultrasound data alongside pre-operative MRI or CT scans. This supports better assessment of anatomical changes such as brain shift, which can occur during surgery.

The combined system brings planning, navigation, and robotics into a single workflow without disrupting existing surgical processes. It is designed to improve precision and support clinical decision-making during operations.

The Stealth AXiS system has received U.S. FDA clearance for cranial procedures, while bkActiv adds features such as real-time visualization, blood flow imaging, and surgeon-controlled interfaces for easier use in the operating room.
