Apple and Google announced a multi-year partnership under which Apple’s next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be built using Google’s Gemini AI models and cloud technology. The collaboration is aimed at supporting future Apple Intelligence features including a more personalized version of Siri expected to launch later this year.

Apple stated that after evaluating multiple options it selected Google’s AI technology as the most capable foundation for its upcoming AI models. Despite the use of Google’s Gemini technology Apple confirmed that Apple Intelligence will continue to operate on Apple devices and through its Private Cloud Compute infrastructure.

The companies emphasized that Apple’s privacy approach will remain unchanged with on-device processing and private cloud execution designed to protect user data. The partnership focuses on improving AI capabilities and user experiences while keeping control of product design system integration and privacy standards within Apple’s ecosystem.
