Apple has introduced the M5 chip, built using 3-nanometer technology, focusing on better AI and graphics performance. The chip includes a new 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, allowing faster AI processing and stronger graphics performance than the M4. It also brings a 16-core Neural Engine, a 10-core CPU with a mix of performance and efficiency cores, and 30 percent higher memory bandwidth at 153GB/s.
M5 improves how devices like the 14-inch MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Apple Vision Pro handle AI tasks such as image generation and 3D rendering. The GPU architecture also supports better visuals with faster ray tracing and smoother gameplay. Developers can use Apple’s frameworks like Metal 4 to access these performance upgrades easily. M5 also supports Apple’s goal to reduce carbon emissions through energy-efficient design. The chip aims to improve performance across Apple’s ecosystem while maintaining power efficiency and environmental responsibility.
