NextStar Energy Co-op Program Earns Employer of the Year Recognition
NextStar Energy has been named 2025 Co-op Employer of the Year by the University of Windsor, recognising its efforts in student development and workforce training.
The company’s co-op program gives students hands-on experience at Canada’s first commercial-scale battery manufacturing facility. Since its launch in 2024, over 80 students from six universities across Ontario have participated. Some have returned for multiple terms and three have secured full-time roles after graduation.
The initiative focuses on building a skilled talent pipeline for the growing battery manufacturing sector while supporting local workforce development in Windsor.
Manager Krista Ammonite was also named Outstanding Supervisor for her mentorship and leadership.
The program continues to expand, with the seventh co-op cohort set to begin in May 2026, welcoming 41 new students.
