ROHM Co., Ltd. and Tata Electronics have announced a strategic partnership to support semiconductor manufacturing in India for domestic and global markets. The collaboration brings together ROHM’s device technology experience and Tata Electronics’ assembly and test capabilities. The goal is to expand business opportunities while strengthening ties between the semiconductor ecosystems of Japan and India.
As an initial step both companies will establish a manufacturing framework for power semiconductors in India. This includes combining ROHM’s power device designs with Tata Electronics’ back end manufacturing capabilities. The partnership will also use the sales networks of both companies to reach customers in India with locally manufactured products.
The first product under this collaboration will be an automotive grade N channel one hundred volt three hundred amp silicon MOSFET designed in India by ROHM. Tata Electronics will handle assembly and testing using a TOLL package with mass production shipments targeted for next year. The companies will also explore joint development of advanced packaging technologies and work together on product marketing.
