Garmin acquires Dutch sports tech company MYLAPS

Garmin has announced that it has acquired MYLAPS, a company based in the Netherlands known for its timing, tracking and performance analysis tools used in sports events. MYLAPS provides services for activities like running, cycling, motorsports and horse racing, and operates in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Garmin said this move will help improve the experience for athletes and event organizers by combining Garmin’s products with MYLAPS’ race-day and training technologies.

MYLAPS has been active since 1982 and is known for developing automatic sports timing systems. The company supports many sports events and works with brands and organizers globally. It has over 200 employees and is based in Haarlem, the Netherlands.

The companies plan to use their combined strengths to offer better tools for tracking performance and managing events. Details about the financial terms of the deal have not been shared.
