Samsung Electronics has secured first place in the AI Cyber Challenge a U.S. government-sponsored competition focused on AI-driven cybersecurity. Hosted by DARPA, the contest took place during DEF CON 33 in Las Vegas and featured universities, research institutions, and global tech companies.

Competing as Team Atlanta Samsung partnered with Georgia Tech, KAIST and POSTECH. The two-year event began in 2023 with 42 teams in the semifinals narrowing to seven finalists this year. In the semifinals, Team Atlanta was the only participant to identify an unintended security vulnerability.

The finals tested teams on detecting and patching software vulnerabilities using AI without human assistance. Samsung’s team demonstrated strong capabilities, earning first place and a $4 million prize.

Samsung plans to use this achievement to further develop AI-based security solutions that can automatically detect and address vulnerabilities, aiming to enhance the security of its products and services through continued collaboration with global experts.
