Daikin and Greater Manchester have extended their partnership for another five years to support the region’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2038. The announcement was made at World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. This new agreement builds on the previous two-year collaboration focused on promoting low-carbon heating, green job creation, and community outreach.
So far, the partnership has led to the installation of 1,500 heat pumps and nearly £0.5 million in social value projects. These included technology rollouts, training programs, school engagement, and support for the homeless.
Under the new plan, the target is to install 64,000 low-carbon heating systems across Greater Manchester by 2030. This includes creating new offers like a heat pump leasing option to make adoption easier. Daikin will also chair the region’s new Low Carbon Heating Industry Advisory Group to help coordinate efforts between businesses and policymakers.
The company plans to open a new training center in 2025 to expand annual training capacity to 4,200 people. It will also support outreach projects such as the Embassy Village to help people affected by homelessness, and use new technologies to better connect heat pump systems in social housing.
