Carrier Shares Guidance and Solutions for Indoor Air Quality During Wildfire Events

Carrier has released updated guidance and solutions to help protect indoor air quality as wildfire smoke continues to impact communities across North America. Recent wildfires in Canada and the United States have led to unsafe air conditions, with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reporting Air Quality Index levels above 150 in several regions.

Wildfire smoke can enter homes and buildings, exposing people to fine particles and gases that may irritate the eyes and lungs or worsen chronic health conditions. To reduce exposure indoors, Carrier recommends steps such as recirculating indoor air, limiting fresh air intake, installing high-efficiency filters, and using air purifiers with HEPA and activated carbon technology. Regular filter replacement and sealing windows and doors are also advised.

Carrier offers assessments, advanced filtration systems, and air purifiers designed to support healthier indoor environments. Earlier this year, the company donated 5,000 air purifiers, valued at more than $2.5 million, to schools, hospitals, and the Los Angeles Fire Department to support wildfire relief efforts.
