Hitachi High-Tech Corporation is working with NOF METAL COATINGS GROUP to improve research and development using Materials Informatics (MI). MI applies AI to analyze data, predict material properties and suggest better manufacturing conditions. By using MI, NOF has reduced the number and length of experiments by more than half and discovered new approaches that were hard to achieve with traditional methods.
NOF develops thin layer coatings that protect metals from rust. Their materials are widely used in industries like automotive and aviation.
With Hitachi’s MI, past data was analyzed to identify promising options for anti-rust materials. This improved efficiency and lowered costs for targeted projects. Hitachi also provided consulting support allowing NOF to apply MI.
