Garmin has released a new software update that adds features to select smartwatches, including the fenix 8, Venu X1, Forerunner 570, Forerunner 970 and Enduro 3, as well as the Edge 1050 cycling computer. The updates focus on advanced running tools, triathlon training, and mountain biking performance.
For runners, new tools include running tolerance, which tracks how weekly mileage impacts the body and running economy, which measures efficiency with the HRM 600 monitor. Athletes can also see step speed loss, receive personalized triathlon training plans, and use track-based daily workouts. Additional features like the evening report and smart wake alarm support recovery and daily planning.
Cyclists using the Edge 1050 gain updates such as timing gates for split tracking, enhanced Forksight mode for trail navigation and dedicated enduro and downhill ride profiles. These allow better ascent and descent tracking along with improved GPS recording for detailed trail visuals.
The updates are free and rolling out gradually. Devices can be updated automatically through Garmin Connect or by using Garmin Express.
