The National Football League (NFL) and Microsoft have extended their partnership to bring Microsoft Copilot and Azure AI into more areas of the game and league operations. This collaboration aims to improve decision-making on the sidelines, support scouting and training, and streamline stadium operations.
More than 2,500 Microsoft Surface Copilot+ PCs are now part of the NFL’s Sideline Viewing System, giving coaches and players tools to analyze plays, evaluate formations, and review performance data in real time. GitHub Copilot also supports quick filtering of game plays based on criteria like down, distance, or penalties. In addition, Microsoft 365 Copilot dashboards help analysts deliver faster insights to adjust strategies during games.
Beyond the field, Microsoft AI is being applied to game-day operations, scouting, and injury assessments. At the 2025 Scouting Combine, an Azure AI Foundry-powered app gave coaches and scouts real-time insights on over 300 prospects. Clubs are also beginning to use Copilot for business operations such as marketing, fan engagement and finance. The partnership reflects how AI tools can benefit both sports and organizational management.
