GlobalLogic and Flexware Innovation, both part of the Hitachi Group, announced the deployment of Flexware’s LIFT intralogistics software at Hitachi Rail’s new $100 million manufacturing facility in Hagerstown, Maryland. The smart factory, which incorporates over $30 million in digital enhancements, uses LIFT 3.0 to streamline material movement and address complex orchestration challenges in a highly automated environment.

LIFT connects warehouse systems with automated guided vehicles (AGVs) to move materials efficiently across the shop floor. It integrates with Hitachi Rail’s warehouse and fleet management systems, enabling real-time requests, dispatches and monitoring. The platform also handles alerts and exceptions to maintain smooth operations.

GlobalLogic contributed to the development of LIFT by improving user experience, strengthening reliability and ensuring production-grade stability. The software acts as an orchestration layer that links various industrial systems such as ERP, MES and IoT devices, helping manufacturers overcome interoperability issues and enhance safety. At Hitachi Rail’s facility, LIFT supports the production of up to 20 railcars per month demonstrating its role in advancing digital transformation in U.S. manufacturing.
