The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has selected Siemens as its Official Digital Twin Sponsor, expanding its adoption of Siemens’ Xcelerator portfolio. This partnership is part of the FIA’s new Global Partnership Programme, which brings together organizations that support innovation, safety, and sustainability in motorsport and mobility.

Using Siemens’ Designcenter NX software, the FIA can design and refine aerodynamic concepts for single-seater race cars, from Formula 1 to Formula 4, in a digital environment. This approach allows engineers to build complex models, run computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, and optimize performance and safety without relying heavily on physical prototypes or wind tunnel testing. Since 2022, the FIA has created over 14,000 CAD parts and carried out more than 10,000 CFD runs using this system.

By working with Siemens the FIA aims to reduce environmental impact, improve design efficiency and push the boundaries of race car performance and safety.
