NVIDIA and the United Kingdom have announced progress on a major collaboration to strengthen the nation’s AI infrastructure and ecosystem. The plan includes building AI factories with partners such as Nscale, CoreWeave and Microsoft. These facilities will host up to 120,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs in the UK and are part of an £11 billion investment, the largest AI infrastructure rollout in the country to date. The initiative will also support OpenAI’s Stargate UK project and other AI model development.
Beyond infrastructure, NVIDIA is working with universities, startups and research groups across areas such as life sciences, finance, robotics and quantum computing. Collaborations include projects with Oxford Quantum Circuits to build a quantum-GPU supercomputing center, and partnerships with the University of Edinburgh and University of Oxford on quantum research.
NVIDIA is also teaming with techUK and QA to upskill the UK workforce in AI and robotics, offering training programs and access to computing resources. These steps are expected to support new jobs, strengthen sovereign AI capability and accelerate national research efforts across sectors from healthcare to climate science.
