Castell Howell has added 20 new Carrier Transicold Supra HE 13 Multi-Temperature units to its fleet, extending a partnership that has lasted more than three decades. These are the first multi-temperature versions of the system to be used on UK roads. The units are fitted to Volvo and DAF trucks with insulated bodies from Gray & Adams, forming part of Castell Howell’s 200-vehicle fleet where most trucks already run Carrier Transicold technology.
The Supra HE 13 MT offers improved efficiency with up to 27% less fuel consumption than older models, fewer potential leak points and longer service intervals. The lighter and more compact design also improves aerodynamics and cab clearance while maintaining strong cooling performance for demanding delivery routes.
The new trucks will cover up to 70,000 km each year from Castell Howell’s headquarters in Llanelli, supporting six-day-a-week deliveries. They are expected to remain in service for up to 10 years. This order is part of a larger purchase of 37 units, including Castell Howell’s first all-electric Volvo FM cooled by Carrier’s engineless Iceland 11 MT system.
