Bosch Secure Authentication GmbH, a new subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH, has partnered with Koenig & Bauer Vision & Protection GmbH to enhance brand protection in the printing industry. Their joint solution combines Bosch’s Origify technology with Koenig & Bauer’s expertise in inspection systems to combat counterfeiting and ensure traceability for high-security print products.
Origify creates a unique digital identity for each product by capturing its individual microstructures during production. This data is securely stored in the cloud and can later be verified with a simple smartphone photo—eliminating the need for extra labels or imprints. The system helps manufacturers detect counterfeit goods and allows consumers to authenticate products themselves.
A specialized version for the printing industry, “Ovjera,” integrates directly into printing machines, ensuring rapid, secure authentication at high production speeds. With counterfeit goods in the EU rising by 77% in 2023, this innovation offers a vital defense for brands and consumers alike.
Bosch sees strong growth potential in packaging and security printing, projected to reach $1.4 trillion and $35 billion by 2028 respectively, and aims to set new standards in digital product verification and anti-counterfeiting solutions.
