HARMAN, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, is investing ₹345 crore to expand its automotive electronics manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune. This move raises total investment in the facility to ₹554 crore and will create 300 new jobs by 2027. The expansion adds 71,505 sq. ft. of space and increases production capacity by over 50%, supporting the manufacturing of four million car audio components, 1.4 million infotainment units, and 0.8 million telematics units annually by 2027.

The plant will produce the HARMAN Ready Connect telematics unit, developed with Samsung, featuring built-in cybersecurity, cloud integration, and OTA updates. This aligns with India’s “Make in India, for the World” vision, serving major local OEMs like Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, and Mahindra & Mahindra, along with export markets.

HARMAN also aims to fully transition to renewable energy by 2030. The Pune site already generates solar power and has eliminated diesel use. With India as a key R&D hub, the expansion strengthens its role in developing connected, safe and sustainable mobility technologies.
