Nokia and Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones E.P. (CNT E.P.) have launched Ecuador’s first commercial 5G network, marking a historic milestone in the nation’s digital transformation. Powered by Nokia’s industry-leading 5G technology, the network delivers speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps ten times faster than 4G with ultra-low latency to enable seamless streaming, faster downloads, and reliable connectivity. The initial deployment includes 188 5G sites across Guayaquil, Samborondón, Daule, Durán, Manta, Portoviejo, Salinas, and Santa Elena, operating in the 3.5 GHz band.
The rollout aligns with Ecuador’s national digital transformation policy, expanding high-speed access nationwide by 2026. Nokia will supply advanced solutions from its AirScale RAN portfolio, including energy-efficient Massive MIMO radios and ReefShark-powered systems. Additional support includes AI-driven network management via MantaRay NM and high-performance IP routing and optical transport solutions. Together, these technologies will deliver stable, energy-efficient connectivity and enable next-generation services such as telemedicine, smart cities, and IoT applications.
This partnership reinforces Nokia’s commitment to modernizing CNT’s infrastructure and empowering Ecuador’s digital economy through sustainable, innovative, and inclusive connectivity solutions.
