At the APEC Summit in Gyeongju, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced a large-scale initiative with South Korea to develop a sovereign AI ecosystem supported by over 250,000 NVIDIA GPUs. The collaboration brings together the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), Samsung, SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group, NAVER Cloud, LG and others to expand AI infrastructure across industries.

The plan includes a sovereign AI network led by MSIT that will deploy 50,000 GPUs through cloud partners like NHN Cloud, Kakao, and NAVER. Major private companies are also investing heavily: Samsung, SK, Hyundai, and NAVER each plan to operate AI factories powered by up to 60,000 NVIDIA GPUs to enhance manufacturing, mobility, robotics, and digital services.

NVIDIA and LG are working together on foundational AI and quantum computing research, while MSIT is developing Korean language models using local data. The partnership extends to AI-RAN and 6G networks with Samsung, SK Telecom and others, aiming to improve efficiency and connectivity.
