Nokia and Rohde & Schwarz have unveiled a breakthrough AI-powered 6G radio receiver that addresses one of the most significant challenges of next-generation networks the coverage limitations of higher-frequency 6G spectrum. Developed by Nokia Bell Labs and tested using Rohde & Schwarz equipment, the receiver leverages machine learning to detect and compensate for signal distortion, resulting in uplink distance improvements of 10–25% over existing technologies.
This innovation enhances 6G uplink coverage, allowing operators to deploy 6G networks over existing 5G infrastructure, thereby reducing costs and accelerating rollout timelines. The AI receiver also demonstrates better throughput and power efficiency, delivering multiple performance benefits for future wireless systems.
The collaboration combines Nokia’s century of network innovation with Rohde & Schwarz’s 90 years of expertise in test and measurement solutions. The companies will showcase the proof-of-concept receiver at the Brooklyn 6G Summit underscoring their joint commitment to shaping the 6G era.
