Qualcomm has launched the Dragonwing IQ-X Series, a new line of industrial-grade processors designed for PLCs, advanced HMIs, edge controllers and industrial PCs. Built for harsh operating environments, the series combines strong single and multithread performance with efficient edge intelligence. It marks Qualcomm’s first industrial PC platform that supports Windows and aims to accelerate smart manufacturing.
Powered by the Qualcomm Oryon CPU, the processors use 4nm technology and offer configurations with 8 to 12 high-performance cores and up to 45 TOPS of AI capability. The IQ-X Series supports temperatures from -40°C to 105°C and provides extensive peripheral compatibility for easy integration with existing industrial systems. It works with standard COM module form factors and supports tools like Qt, CODESYS and EtherCAT on Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC.
Through the Qualcomm AI Software Stack, developers can run AI workloads using ONNX and PyTorch, enabling applications such as predictive maintenance, defect detection and condition monitoring. The design simplifies customization by reducing the need for separate AI or multimedia modules.
Advantech, congatec, NEXCOM, Portwell, SECO and Tria are among the first OEMs adopting the platform.
