Smarter Screens, Bigger Dreams: How AI Is Reshaping the Modern TV

Today’s smart TVs are more than just screens — they’re intelligent hubs powered by next-generation voice assistants, advanced AI and high-performance processors. These innovations work quietly behind the scenes to enhance picture quality, optimize sound and personalize every interaction.

TVs remain the centerpiece technology in American households and the living room is evolving into a multifunctional space for cinematic storytelling, high-fidelity gaming and shared moments with family and friends. Whether you’re binge-watching a series or asking your TV for recommendations, AI ensures the experience feels intuitive and tailored to you.

AI algorithms analyze viewer behavior, preferences and real-time interactions to deliver highly tailored content recommendations. This goes beyond simple suggestions. AI can dynamically adjust interfaces and even support interactive storytelling. Some are even going as far as prioritizing content based on time of day or what mood you’re in. Imagine turning on your TV on a Friday night and seeing exactly what fits your vibe — no scrolling required.

Samsung recently launched the world’s first smart TV app powered by Perplexity AI, a partnership first announced at CES® 2025. Users can ask questions via voice or text and get visually optimized answer cards on the big screen. It supports queries like movie recommendations, trivia and even vacation planning. This new integration means everything happens on one screen, making your entertainment setup smarter, smoother and more connected than ever.

Meanwhile, screens are growing — literally. As consumers shift from the familiar 65-inch format to expansive 85-inch and even 100-inch displays, every pixel counts, becoming a portal to richer visuals and deeper immersion.

And those big screens are smarter than ever. AI can now dynamically adjust brightness, contrast and color based on scene content and ambient lighting and modify sound profiles to match the type of content you’re watching whether it’s a dialogue-heavy drama or an action-packed movie.

LG’s new Alpha 11 AI Processor pushes real-time optimization to the next level. Using deep learning, it fine-tunes picture and sound scene-by-scene — sharpening visuals, enhancing depth and balancing dialogue with background sound for a more cinematic feel. Some of their OLEDs models take it even further by using AI to detect objects such as sports balls to enhance motion clarity in real time. The result: every scene looks and sounds like it was crafted just for your space.

Panasonic’s HCX Pro AI Processor MK II anchors its 2025 TV lineup. It supports the 4K Remaster Engine for sharper visuals from lower-resolution content and introduces Amazon Prime Video Calibrated Mode, which adjusts settings to reflect the creator’s intent using over-the-air data. The processor is designed to deliver authentic, director-intended visuals, a hallmark of Panasonic’s reputation in Hollywood studios and film production.

Sony is using AI extensively in its latest TV lineup to improve picture quality, sound and overall viewing experience. Their premium TVs, like the Bravia 8 II QD-OLED and Bravia 5 Mini LED, feature the XR Processor™ which analyzes content in real time. This AI-driven system cross-analyzes hundreds of thousands of elements at once, including the focal point — which can detect where humans tend to focus the most — generating depth information and adjusting each part to optimize the picture for ultimate realism. The end result is more depth to the main character or the player with the ball, and scoreboards become easier to see.

Looking ahead, CES 2026 promises even more innovation as AI continues to redefine how we experience entertainment.
