Nokia has announced plans to increase its U.S. investment by $4 billion to develop AI-ready network technologies across mobile, fixed access, IP, optical, and data center infrastructure. This initiative, supported in collaboration with the U.S. administration, aims to enhance secure and efficient connectivity while strengthening domestic research and manufacturing capabilities. The investment builds on Nokia’s earlier $2.3 billion commitment linked to its acquisition of Infinera, which itself announced additional U.S. manufacturing expansion funded through CHIPS Act incentives.

Approximately $3.5 billion of the new funding will support U.S.-based R&D efforts focused on next-generation networking, automation, quantum-safe solutions, semiconductor processes, and material sciences. The remaining $500 million will go toward manufacturing and related capital expenditures in states such as Texas, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Nokia will continue to rely on the legacy of Nokia Bell Labs, known for its longstanding contributions to communications and emerging technologies.

The expanded investment is positioned to reinforce Nokia’s role in developing AI-optimized networks and supporting national security, productivity, and technological growth. Company leadership emphasized that these efforts aim to strengthen the U.S. supply chain, advance innovation, and contribute to long-term connectivity development.
