GE Appliances has awarded more than $150 million in contracts to suppliers across 10 U.S. states. These contracts cover steel, resins, parts and components for the company’s new washer and combo washer dryer plant at its Louisville headquarters. The work supports GE Appliances’ supply chain of more than 6,500 U.S. suppliers and adds to the earlier $490 million investment in expanding laundry production in Kentucky. The new contracts are part of the company’s wider five year plan to strengthen U.S. manufacturing, reshore production and create over 1,000 jobs nationwide.
Kentucky suppliers will receive more than $40 million, the highest share among states. Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois suppliers will also see major contract awards. Suppliers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, Alabama and California will share $34 million. GE Appliances continues to source most of its steel and aluminum from U.S. producers.
The company is increasing early collaboration with suppliers to improve quality, shorten lead times and localize key components. Several long standing partners noted that these contracts will support local growth and strengthen domestic manufacturing. Production at the new plant is planned to begin in early 2027.
