Snapdragon has launched the 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, expanding its 8-series lineup with a premium option designed for upcoming flagship smartphones. The platform aims to offer advanced performance, improved efficiency, and updated on-device intelligence features for both OEMs and consumers. It introduces enhancements across CPU, GPU, AI processing, and device responsiveness to support a broader range of premium devices.
The platform includes the Qualcomm Oryon CPU, reaching peak speeds of up to 3.8 GHz while delivering notable gains in overall processing and web responsiveness. The updated Adreno GPU uses a sliced architecture to support higher clock speeds and improved graphics output, enabling smoother visuals and more efficient performance for gaming and multimedia applications.
AI capabilities receive significant updates, powered by the Qualcomm AI Engine and the Hexagon NPU, which improves performance for tasks such as intelligent assistance, contextual interactions, and on-device personalization. The Qualcomm Sensing Hub adds intuitive device wake and interaction features by combining audio and sensor signals to detect user intent.
Flagship models from brands including OnePlus, iQOO, Honor, Motorola, Meizu, and vivo are expected to adopt Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in the coming weeks, bringing the platform’s capabilities to a global audience.
