Nokia has begun construction on its new Ottawa innovation campus, marking a significant step in its long-standing presence in Canada’s technology landscape. Located in the Kanata North Tech Park, the nearly 750,000-square-foot campus will support more than 1,900 R&D professionals in Ottawa and over 2,500 across the country. The site will focus on developing AI-powered networks, quantum-safe infrastructure, data center networks, advanced optics, IP routing, and research for future 6G technologies.
The project highlights Nokia’s collaboration with the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario, and the City of Ottawa, supported through initiatives such as the Strategic Innovation Fund. Leadership from Nokia emphasized the company’s commitment to strengthening Canada’s digital infrastructure, advancing national security technologies, and nurturing local talent. The campus will integrate sustainability principles through low-carbon materials, renewable energy systems, and LEED-aligned design.
Nokia’s partnerships with NVIDIA, academic institutions, and training programs aim to make the campus a hub for skill development and industry collaboration. Government leaders noted the project’s role in enhancing Canada’s digital readiness, supporting economic growth, and preparing the workforce for emerging fields such as AI, cybersecurity, and quantum technologies.
