Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has announced a new collaboration with Honeywell to support the next phase of expansion at its Lekki refinery in Nigeria. Under this agreement, Honeywell will supply process technologies, equipment, catalysts, and services aimed at enabling the refinery to handle a broader variety of crude oils and increase processing capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028. This expansion is positioned to enhance fuel production within the region, reduce reliance on imports, and support Nigeria’s broader energy security objectives.
The partnership builds on nearly ten years of cooperation, during which Honeywell has provided multiple process technologies to the Lekki facility. The new project aims to maximize existing infrastructure, streamline implementation timelines, and improve operational efficiency. In addition, Dangote will license Honeywell’s Oleflex technology to produce 750,000 metric tons of propylene annually, increasing its overall polypropylene output to 2.4 million metric tons per year. These materials are widely used in packaging and industrial applications.
The Lekki refinery currently produces Euro-V quality fuels and polypropylene and is recognized as the world’s largest single-train refinery. Honeywell brings more than a century of experience supporting global industrial and energy operations.
