Kakao Entertainment and Sony Corporation have announced a partnership focused on the use of Sony’s 360 Reality Audio technology for music and entertainment experiences. The collaboration will explore multiple business opportunities, including content production that uses immersive and spatial audio formats.
360 Reality Audio is Sony’s object based sound technology that places individual audio elements such as vocals, instruments, and effects within a 360 degree sound field. This allows creators to design three dimensional audio experiences that reflect artistic intent and provide listeners with a stronger sense of presence.
The first outcome of this partnership will be a special stage at the 17th Melon Music Awards, MMA 2025, scheduled to take place on December 20 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The performance will be streamed online, enabling viewers around the world to experience the event with immersive audio that simulates being at the venue.
Kakao Entertainment manages a wide range of music and entertainment IP through its multi label system and operates platforms such as Melon and the global fan service Berriz. Both companies stated that this collaboration is intended to enhance how global audiences experience live streamed performances and to explore future projects that combine music content with advanced audio technology.
