Toshiba Electronic Devices and Storage Corporation has announced the release of the TCD2400DG, a lens reduction type CCD linear image sensor designed for line scan cameras used in image inspection equipment. Shipments of the new sensor have begun from December 18, 2025.
The TCD2400DG is a color CCD linear sensor with 4096 sensing elements arranged across three independent lines for red, green, and blue. It features a 7 micrometer pixel pitch and supports a maximum line rate of 22.7 kilohertz, which is roughly double the speed of Toshiba’s earlier model used in inspection systems. This higher readout speed allows inspection equipment to process large volumes of image data more quickly and accurately.
Unlike Bayer based sensors, the independent RGB lines eliminate the need for color interpolation, enabling immediate color judgment and high resolution image capture. The sensor also integrates the timing generator circuit and CCD driver, reducing external components, simplifying system design, and lowering electromagnetic interference during high speed operation.
The sensor is intended for applications such as food sorting, recycled material classification, surface inspection of industrial products, and printed material inspection. Toshiba stated it will continue expanding its imaging sensor lineup to support inspection and scanning applications.
