Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has published its first report aligned with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures. The report outlines how the company and its group entities depend on natural capital, how their operations impact the environment, and the related risks and opportunities for the business. It follows the TNFD disclosure framework and is intended for investors and other stakeholders.

The company has positioned sustainability as a core business priority, alongside efforts toward carbon neutrality, circular economy practices, and nature positive outcomes. In September 2024, Mitsubishi Electric committed to TNFD-aligned disclosures and registered as a TNFD Adopter. This report is the first outcome of that commitment.

Mitsubishi Electric used the LEAP approach to assess interactions with nature, including dependencies, impacts, and risks related to ecosystems and natural resources. The findings highlight potential dependencies on water resources in certain regions and environmental impacts linked to wastewater discharge and greenhouse gas emissions. These insights have reinforced the need for additional action.

The report is structured around TNFD’s four pillars: governance, strategy, risk and impact management, and metrics and targets. It also links ongoing initiatives to the company’s Environmental Sustainability Vision 2050 and Environmental Plan 2025. Mitsubishi Electric stated it will continue transparent disclosure aligned with TNFD frameworks.
